About The Tuscany Guide

I am Diego Fresno, an independent travel writer. I run this site on my own: I choose what to cover, I pay for my own tickets and tastings, and nobody pays to appear here.

Where these guides come from

The guides are built on two things: time on the ground, and current-season verification. I visited Florence and Siena in July 2022, went inside the cathedral and up into Brunelleschi’s dome, saw the David at the Accademia, spent a morning in Piazza del Campo, and did a wine tasting in Chianti on the afternoon of 23 July.

That is not enough on its own, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. A single trip three years ago does not tell you what a tour costs today or whether an estate still takes walk-ins. So every commercial claim here (prices, opening hours, booking windows, what a tour includes) is checked against operator websites and regional tourism sources before publication, and re-checked each season. Where I have not been somewhere myself, I say so on the page.

How this site makes money

Affiliate links. If you book a tour through Viator or GetYourGuide, or a hotel through Booking.com, I earn a commission and you pay exactly the same price. That is the whole model. There are no ads, no sponsored posts and no paid listings.

The thing worth knowing is what that does not buy. Operators cannot pay to be recommended, cannot pay to be ranked higher, and cannot pay to have a bad review removed. When a widely sold tour is poor value, I say so, even when it is one I could earn a commission on.
